SYSC Parents & Guardians
Code of Conduct
As a parent or guardian of an SYSC player, I understand that I am a member of the club and represent its values. My behavior reflects on the club and plays a vital role in fostering a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. This Code of Conduct applies to all parents and guardians, and any breach may result in disciplinary action by SYSC, including removal from the premises and exclusion from future events or programs.
Respect and Support for Players
I understand that children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not mine.
I will encourage my child to participate but never force them.
I will focus on my child’s effort and performance rather than just winning or losing.
I will never ridicule, yell at, or punish a child for making mistakes or losing a competition.
I will encourage my child to always play by the rules and resolve disagreements without hostility or violence.
I understand that children learn best by example and will acknowledge good performances and skillful plays by all participants.
Respect for the Game and the Club
I will behave respectfully towards SYSC club committee members, coaches, players, referees, officials, and other parents at all times.
I will respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every young person, regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background, or religion.
I will not use crude, foul, or abusive language or engage in behavior that damages the reputation of the club or the game.
I will respect all decisions made by referees and officials and will teach my child to do the same.
I will support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
Zero Tolerance for Abuse, Bullying & Harassment
SYSC has a zero-tolerance policy regarding any form of abuse, bullying, harassment, or intimidation. This includes but is not limited to:
Verbal abuse, including yelling, threats, or offensive language.
Physical aggression or intimidation.
Harassment or discrimination based on gender, race, ability, or background.
Online or social media harassment towards players, coaches, officials, or other parents.
Any breaches of this policy will be addressed under SYSC’s Ask, Tell, Expel approach:
Ask – The individual will be reminded of the club’s expectations and asked to modify their behavior.
Tell – A formal warning will be issued if the behavior continues.
Expel – If the behavior persists, the individual may be removed from the premises and banned from future participation in club activities.
Positive Sideline Behavior
I will allow the coaches to coach and will not give instructions to my child or other players during training or games.
I will remain in designated spectator areas and will not enter the field of play unless permitted by an official.
I will encourage teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship and will not engage in negative or hostile behavior.
I will cheer for all players, not just my own child, and promote a positive and supportive atmosphere.
Club and Community Involvement
I acknowledge the importance of volunteers and will show appreciation for coaches, referees, and administrators who make my child’s participation possible.
If I have concerns, I will raise them respectfully through the appropriate club channels rather than during games or in a confrontational manner.
I will support the club by respecting its policies and helping to create a welcoming and inclusive community.
Being part of SYSC means committing to SYSC Parents & Guardians Code of Conduct and understanding that any violations may result in disciplinary action, including removal from club activities.
