MiniRoos
Small-sided football for children aged 8 to 11, in mixed and girls’ teams, at Fawkner Park.
MiniRoos is where most South Yarra players start. It is built for children of every skill level, in a supportive environment where the point is to enjoy the game and keep coming back.
Teams compete in Kanga, Wallaby or Joey divisions depending on experience, with Kanga the most competitive. We run a mix of parent and volunteer coaches alongside paid coaches, so every squad has proper support on the sideline.
How MiniRoos games work
Small-sided formats, so children get far more touches of the ball than they would on a full-size pitch.
A season at Fawkner Park
Matchday
Mixed and boys teams play on Saturday mornings and girls teams play on Sundays. Home games are at Fawkner Park; away kick-off times are set by the opposition. Football Victoria publishes the season calendar at the start of each year, with the draw following in preseason.

Training
Season training runs on Thursday evenings on the pitches around Fawkner Park, with a second session for some teams when the coach calls for it. Players need football boots, shin guards and long socks at every session – no boots, no play – plus a water bottle, and a hat when the UV is high.

Summer and preseason programs
The club runs an eight-week program for registered members over summer and into preseason, usually one session a week. It is there to keep players moving through the off season, particularly those who do not play another sport. Locations are sent directly to the players who enrol.
Age groups, fees and places
Age groups shift every year as players move up, and fees for the coming season are set during preseason. Rather than publish numbers that go out of date, we confirm them with you directly.
Most teams carry over from the previous season, and vacancies are advertised and filled during preseason. Register your interest and the MiniRoos coordinator will come back to you with the age group, the fee and whether there is a place.
