Juniors
Competitive junior football from Under 12 upwards, built around development rather than results.
Our junior program is designed to give young players the best environment to learn in, with a strong focus on skill, teamwork and enjoyment. Every player is supported through their own football journey.
The program is built around realistic expectations for young footballers. Players build confidence, resilience and a lasting love of the game, and we measure that by how they grow rather than by the scoreline.
How junior games work
Graded competitions played for points, with the format stepping up as players move through the age groups.
A season at Fawkner Park
Matchday
Under 12 plays on Saturdays and Under 13 and above play on Sundays. Home games are at Fawkner Park, with younger age groups kicking off earlier in the day; away kick-off times are set by the opposition. Football Victoria releases the leagues and the draw in preseason.
compulsory
Training
Two sessions a week, usually Tuesdays and Thursdays, at a time set by the team coach. Players need football boots, shin guards and long socks at every session, plus a water bottle and a hat when the UV is high.

Kit
The club kit is purchased as part of registration and is not included in the season fee. Team shirt, shorts and socks must be worn for every game, and shin guards are compulsory.
Which age group a player is in
Football Victoria requires players to play in the age group for the year they were born, which does not always line up with their school year.
Playing up an age group is allowed by exception rather than as a rule. Playing down is not allowed, though a dispensation process exists for extenuating circumstances.
Girls in Under 12, 13 and 14 may play in the boys competition. From Under 15 that needs approval through Football Victoria’s dispensation process. Boys are not permitted to play in the girls competition at any age.
Age groups, fees and places
Age groups shift every year as players move up, and fees for the coming season are set during preseason. Rather than publish numbers that go out of date, we confirm them with you directly.
Most teams carry over from the previous season, and vacancies are advertised and filled during preseason. Register your interest and the juniors coordinator will come back to you with the age group, the fee and whether there is a place.
