MiniRoos
MiniRoos is a fun and inclusive soccer program designed for children aged 8–11 of varied skill levels. We have both mixed and girls’ teams, offering children an opportunity to enjoy the game in a supportive environment. The program introduces young players to soccer through short, game-based sessions that focus on skill development, staying active and making friends.
The season usually runs from April to September, with teams continuing from the previous season beginning pre-season training in February. Games are held on Saturday mornings for Mixed/Boys teams and on Sundays for Girls fixtures. Home games are played on the pitch around our Club house located in the Fawkner Park – South Pavilion.
Teams compete in Kanga, Wallaby, or Joey divisions, with Kanga being the most competitive. More information on playing formats is available from Football Victoria.
Our club runs both a Summer and Preseason Program for existing club members/ players. We also advertise available spots and conduct team trials at the start of preseason to fill any open positions across our teams.
We offer a mix of parent/volunteer coaches and paid coaches who work together to create a positive, supportive, and development-focused environment for all players.

Parents & Guardians at SYSC
South Yarra Soccer Club is proudly volunteer-run and our success depends on the support and involvement of our community. To ensure everything runs smoothly, we ask that every parent or guardian contribute their time to help make a difference.
Volunteer rosters will be shared ahead of each game or event. Parents are expected to either complete their required volunteer hours or, if unable to do so, pay the volunteer levy during registration.
For more details please reader the Volunteer Levy Policy.
There are many ways to get involved—whether by taking on an official role, assisting with training equipment, setting up for training sessions or match days, organising a BBQ, supporting fundraisers, or joining the Juniors subcommittee. Your support helps create the best possible experience for our players—thank you for being part of the club!
For further information about the expectations of parents at SYSC please read the Parents Code of Conduct and Parental Responsibility Policy.
Team Managers
Junior team managers are parent-volunteers who are the “glue” between coaches, other parents, and the Club. For information on what being a team manager entails, please have a look at the Team Manager Handbook, and let your child’s coach know if you’re interested in taking on the role for your child’s team.
Working with Children’s Check – Mandatory
Registration for Coaches, Managers and Volunteers in Play Football is mandatory. There is no fee attached to this registration. It is a requirement to register every year even if registered in previous years. All Coaches, Managers and Volunteers will be requested to provide a current Working with Children Check number. To obtain or renew an existing check, please visit working with children check to commence the process.
